About

Every parent whose child attends West Dalhousie School is a member of the school council.  School councils perform an important advisory role at schools. They help ensure the parent and community perspective is represented in school decision-making. In addition, school councils share information about the school with the community.

The West Dalhousie School Council meets 8 times a year, on the second Thursday of the month, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the school library.  The first meeting of the year will be on Thursday, September 14.  We do not meet in December or March.

At every School Council meeting we have reports from the various committees (e.g., Special Events, Treasurer, Nature’s Place, Volunteer) as well as new business from topics of interest.  In addition, the West Dalhousie administrative team presents various topics each meeting including grade team updates, budget news and enrollment updates and their impacts to staffing and programing.  Any parent is welcome to bring any appropriate ideas, concerns, or topics to the School Council meeting for discussion.

The School Council is also committed to parent education and sponsors special evenings for parents to learn more about the school’s approach to teaching students.

Please join us for our next meeting!  All parents are welcome and babysitting is available in the kindergarten classroom courtesy of our grade 6 leadership team.
